My
Recommendations:
Not listed in any order of
preference, other than some of my favorite selections have managed to bubble to the top. |
My own personal
descriptions:
Hey, what do I know, I'm no
musician or music critic, but I know what I like while visiting with Sally D.
Although most selections are freely downloadable, please support these artists and
musicians. |
Tranquility: Silence Follows Rain |
I found this CD to be absolutely
great for a pleasurable level 4+ experience - my favorite so far. As the name
suggests, it's tranquil, yet it has a wonderful brightness to it. For me, it gave
the experience a nice smooth slow flowing claymation-like appearance, with pastel-ish
overtones. Sally and I highly recommend this CD. Each track can be sampled at
the provided link, however I've not found it available for free downloading
anywhere. Well worth the price. Available at almost all music and department
stores. When searching for this CD, note this spelling of "Tranquility". Nautical
Nights was particularly great (set the volumn at a comfortable leve, but not
to low or high). BTW, the track list found at the link at the left is messed up. |
SPACECRAFT |
As the name may suggest, this is some
spacey music - good level 4 & 5 ambient stuff. Some selections have a mild
brightness quality to them, others will leave you lonely and stranded in the void. A
few favorite selections are Homage To Gaia, The Pink Side of Echoes,
Destination:
Infinity (excerpt), Fresh Formations.
If files aren't available at MP3.com for downloading/sampling, check their site at AMPCAST: SPACECRAFT. |
Robert Rich |
Some trippy stuff here. I
wonder if this artist has met any entities and tried to communicate with them. Check
out Winged Ants
- it sure sounds like a recording brought back from the void to me. Deliquescing Procession
is also definitely recommended for a deep level 5 journey (please don't get lost in
there). After listening to those two piece, you'll probably find Somnium Intro (excerpt)
a welcomed relief to guild you back to earth. Electric Fish (excerpt)
is a more tamed "out-there" selection, and Lapis is an
invigorating piece after you find yourself almost back on earth (turn up the bass and
volume a little). This is one artist I hope creates more! |
Dave Stafford |
Intending to only venture as far as
the border of the void, Dave's Willing Participation In The
Dream unexpectedly grabbed me and dragged me deep into the void. The
isolated and lonely feeling this piece projects is highly complimentary for one sweet
ego-be-gone experience. Really worth a level 5 dose experience. And you
thought you knew what loneliness felt like? |
Dean
Raskin-Relaxation/Meditation |
Nice smooth "lite"
non-threatening lower level salvia space music. You can almost touch and taste the
colors. Recommendations: Star Dust, Lullaby, Reflections, Across Time, and
others. |
| William
Linton |
A nice bright, smooth, slow flowing,
transquil selection for a beautiful salvia journey: Ocean Of Dreams
can take you to the beach for 4 minutes, but don't get too wet. |
| Tony Gerber |
Lots of musical selections from this
artist. My downloadable recommendations, Native Spirit and The Hunt.
Both are overall great for lower level salvia journeys. On your next level 4 or 5
journey, try to find your way out of Magdalenian Cave. |
| Giles
Reaves |
Spacey music, for deep space exploration. The Blessing
will take you where no one has gone before. |
| Stephanie Sante |
I only had time to sample this
artists freely downloadable selections. A couple noteworth selections are Radiance, Lotus Blossoms.
Spacey, smooth, fresh, and bright. |
| James
Johnson |
Much to explore from this artist.
A couple of downloadable selections, Drift and Methane Sea, are
slow, tranquil, and smooth. Good relaxing choices for exploring and meditating in a
lower level salvia journey. |
| Eye of Phetkanha |
Some really good stuff to take you to
level 5. The
Sound To The Picture Of The Sound: a reverberating soundscape, which left me
lost and stumbling around in a dark eerie universe. Swamping Those Who Will One
Day Understand: will comatose and revive you. Ahriman, Weeping...
may be a little too spooky except for the brave - so try it, if you dare! Check out
their other dark ambient soundscapes. Visit the Eye of Phetkanha web
site for more information about their unique mind twisting music. |
| dreamSTATE |
Some dark ambient sounds,
recommended for exploring deep space level 5. Recommended: Sunspot Interference,
and White Winter
Moon. |
| Stone
Idols |
Lumiere Du Matin,
is a smooth mild background ambient soundscape with some soft unintelligible conversations
going on (somewhere out in the void) that's nice for exploring salvia space. |
| BrainWave Generator |
BrainWave Generator (BWGEN.EXE) generates binaural beats that change
your brain frequency towards the desired state, be it relaxation or enhanced
attention. A particularly useful tool, for those longer enriching quid or tincture
administered salvia journeys, to take you to the state of mind you seek. HEADPHONES REQUIRED. |
| Mystical
Sun |
Hypnotic ambient atmospheric
selections, for close encounters of the salvia kind. Journey To Samadhi,
uses brain entraining binaural beats layered in harmonic music to lead your brain waves
into the THETA frequency. This selection is 18 minutes, 36 seconds long, and I
highly recommend it for the quid/tincture administered salvia traveler, as far as level 5
- if you dare (or play it just to relax). Start playing this piece as you begin to
feel the familiar salvia pull (or arrange a shorter selection just before this one in your
play list). NOTE: disable all surround sound and other sound expansion capabilities
of your audio hardware for effective results. HEADPHONES REQUIRED.
Another selection I had fun traveling with, Nebulous Mist, has
a nice primordial quality to it. |
| Nature's
Window |
Composition comprised of sounds of
nature, with musical arrangements. Not available for download however. |
| Musical
Nature |
Some unusual minimal/ambient stuff
to listen to here. I, and III, were worth
downloading and listening too, but the remaining selections that I listened to did not
seem to have any channel separation (they sounded flat and mono). |
Steve Roach (ambient)
also vidnaObmana
and Vir Unis |
A very long list of really cool mystical, spacey, and trippy sonic
landscape selections from this artist, perfect for traveling into strange new lands.
Some recommendations are: Structures From Silence,
In the Presence of
Something, Hidden Earth and the Shadows
Dance, Below Always, Early Dawn, Vine ~ Bark & Spore,
Resolution Point,
The Lair,
Early Man,
Fall of the Moai,
Shadowfall,
Live in Tucson, May
2000, Beyond
the Blood, Slow Heat, Revealing the Secret,
Somewhere Else,
Circles &
Artifacts, and many many more. Just too many to download, so visit www.steveroach.com to purchase. Also
see: Steve
Roach/Vidna Obmana, Steve Roach/Vir Unis
(recommended: Mind
Link and Pure Expansion),
and Vir Unis
(recommended: At
The Edge of Decaying Light, Radiant Heart, Like Wind In The Trees,
Deepest Dream,
Indigo Light)
pages on MP3.com for more selections. |
| Biff
Johnson |
A lot of stuff here (similar to
Steve Roach's music), such as Feldspar and Mica,
Smokehouse,
Paths of Sorrow
part1, Clouds From the North,
Talking Wind,
Melange,
plus a whole lot more to listen to while lost and floating in the void. Also check
out the Broad Vista Music web
site. |
| Interstitial |
A couple of minimal ambient
droning spacey soundscapes selections: Gnosio, and Bones of the Dead.
|
| Amethystium |
A lot of ambient mood music to
download and try here - stuff to help calm you and to set the stage prior to a salvia
journey, such as Avalon,
Enchantment,
Ethereal,
and many more. |
| Alphons
Arts |
A few selections to confuse your
mind while in salvia space, Rasayah's Early Journey,
and Appreciation of
the Elements. |
| Soundweaver |
Another bizzare, ethereal, loony,
selection: Atmosis
(just under 2 minutes, but worth trying). |
| Chris
Hattingh |
While the majority of this artists
creations aren't along the lines of these two example, here's a soundscapes that's will
add texture to your journey: Halls Of Poseidon.
While this next selection isn't what I would normally listen to in salvia space,
try it and see if it invokes a vision of a marching band or carnival scene: Fourth Of July. |
| Tales
To Tell |
Just a few short selections here,
probably too short for a SD journey, but I liked them anyhow. In The Mines Of Moria
(mystical), Horror
House (eerie), Rain On The Leaves
(nice thunder clap in there), and Storm Approach.
Other good selections from this artist. |
| Enigma |
Although I normally find music
with a regular beat to it, and music with intelligible vocals in it, somewhat distracting
during a salvia experience, I though I would add Enigma to this list, because they do have
a number of musical selections which are conducive to a good salvia experience. The
one CD that I tested with salvia is their MCMXC a.D
CD. Sorry, I couldn't find any free downloads or samples for this one. |
| UFO Conspiracy - Free MP3's |
The selection The Dance Of The Little Green
Men is something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Worm Hole, The Stars Dance While The
Rain Sleeps, and The Mothership Passes
Overhead are three short beautiful ambient selections, too bad they all
weren't much longer. |
| Dieiatra Etc. |
Query Returns No Data
[t.c.o.b.], a spacey/mellow ambient selection, worth downloading. |
| Breakable |
Dark, mystical, ominous, and evil
sounding, Vies2,
Vies 3,
Psalm 23, Chapter
666: I Shall Fear Evil, and Alcohol Made Us
Create Those Sick Sounds, Help Me Counting Towards My
Suicide, and 1-2-3 Help Me,
may cause you to run and hide under your bed. Crying For Silence - Soft
Trippin Ambien is a bit less evil sounding. In Love With The Perfect Girl
is a brighter ambient selection to also explore with salvia. |
| Magellan |
I found a few cool selections from
this artist to be appropriate for salvia space: Complex Waves in Synergy
(spacey/lonely ambient noise), and Mysterious Signals
(appropriate for a confusing trippy experience), Atmospheres (like
some ambient voices playing in your head). |
| Thrill |
An assortment of interesting thing
to be found here to listen to. Z 9, and The Arrival are
two nice spacey ambient selections. Jitter, Space 4 (V2),
and Realm
are some cool ambient sounds and effects. Also, Project B (Meditation Mix),
Project B(Radio
Edit), and Project B (Radio Mix)
is smooth ambient selection. |
Total
Intuition
(MoonInTheMan) |
And now for something completely
different... I just had to toss this unusual one in here: Carousel Caramel
may turn your next salvia experience into an unusual eery carousel ride. |
| cheryl
o |
Some rather interesting ambient
improvisational stuff to experiment with. Check out Species, Retreat, The Storm Within,
Unresolved,
The Fall of Lhasa,
and Dark River.
|
| Astral Projection |
Well, if you are into goa,
psytrance, and some cool ambient stuff, then you should check these guys out. They
have more to offer than space to list here. Try: Ambient Galaxy (disco
valley mix), Virtual Booster (live at
arvika), Power Gen (live somewhere in
nowhere), Anything Is Possible!!!,
Electro Static!,
Still On Mars.
|
| Acidage |
A lot of interesting selections
well worth listening to from this artist. Far too many to list here, and I haven't
checked most of his pieces yet, but I found Awareness of Humility, Void, Sunshine on Venus, and Softspace.
(sample and download Acidage
selections on Ampcast.com) |
| Other Musical Experiments |
For some additionally interesting
musically enhanced salvia experiences, I have tried various selections from spacey
soundtrack titles such as (sorry, not free downloads for these CDs):
John
Williams / The Empire Stikes Back - Special Edition - Disc 1
and Disc 2
The City Of
Prague Philharmonic / Space and Beyond - Disc 1
and Disc 2

Other Noise & Sound
Effects Experiments |
For an absolutely
confusing experiment, try some of these sound effects from various artists:
